Kate Kehayes, MS, LCMHCA (she/her) joined Obsidian Care Collective, PLLC in December, 2023, providing care to clients virtually with some in person availability. Kate is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (Lic# A15548) in the State of North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance (2009) and Master of Science in Counselor Education (2017) from East Carolina University. Kate has been a practicing psychotherapist since 2017.

Kate’s practice is informed by her lived experience as a person with neurodivergence who uses a bionic arm. She loves supporting others who may inhabit differently abled bodies as they seek enjoyment and liberation through education, support, and accommodation.

Before working with Obsidian Care Collective, Kate was a psychotherapist at a community behavioral health agency in Raleigh, NC providing individualized care to teens and adults including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, and Solution-Focused therapy.

Kate has also served as the Student Success Coordinator working with students seeking higher education at a community college in Wilson, NC.  During her time, she established the first campus-wide holistic wellness program serving students and staff with a fully functioning food pantry and on-going wellness programming. In 2017, she delivered the commencement speech to the East Carolina University, College of Education graduating class.

Across her experiences, Kate maintains a passion for removing barriers and increasing access for anyone seeking self-improvement. As your therapist, she aims to create a healthy supportive alliance with clients by utilizing transparency, humor, and radical acceptance to create space for exploring our authentic selves.

At Obsidian Care Collective, Kate provides individual therapy to adolescents and adults who are seeking support. Kate enjoys working with neurodivergence including Autism and ADHD, social anxiety, life transitions, and general mental health care needs.

When Kate is not providing clinical services for their clients, they enjoy growing things, trying out new vegan recipes, and spending time with their partner and their two dogs; Petra and Ollie.

Please note that Kate provides clinical services via our HIPAA protected telehealth platform with a limited number of in person sessions.
